Open the image and identify the backdrop
Add a PNG, JPG, or WebP with a distinct solid background. Check whether the background color also appears inside the subject before deciding how widely to key it.
Make a solid image background transparent. Preview the alpha edge, remove a selected color, and save PNG or WebP for layering in another design.

Sample the backdrop and refine tolerance and softness. The checkerboard shows transparent pixels. Temporarily test a light or dark color to reveal a fringe, then return to transparent.
Choose a transparent background and a format that supports alpha. Reopen the exported file in a compatible editor to confirm that the empty area is transparent rather than a saved checkerboard.
A transparent cutout can sit over a thumbnail, presentation, website layout, or a new background without carrying the original screen with it. PNG and WebP can preserve partly transparent edge pixels, which helps a softened outline blend into the next design.
Transparency is pixel data, not a pattern. The checkerboard is only a preview aid and is not drawn into the export. Some image viewers display transparent areas as white or black, so test the file by placing it over another colored layer.
JPG does not contain an alpha channel. Saving a JPG as PNG preserves the visible picture but does not automatically recover a cutout. First remove the chosen backdrop with the key, then save the transparent result.
If you choose JPG for export, the editor fills transparent areas with an opaque background. Use PNG when the next step needs an editable cutout, or WebP when the receiving application supports its transparency. Existing source transparency is retained while the key adds or refines transparent areas.

Some viewers display transparency over white. Open the image over another colored layer; if that color shows through, the file has transparency.
No. It represents empty pixels in the preview. It is not part of the Canvas image data saved by the editor.
No. JPG does not support an alpha channel. Choose PNG or WebP with a transparent background for a reusable cutout.
Yes, if it is distinct from the logo. The white background remover adds a focused workflow for removing outside-connected white while checking white details inside the artwork.
No. The tool exports a single raster image. It cannot reconstruct design layers or details hidden by an opaque background.
