Use the eyedropper on a representative patch of backdrop. Raise tolerance until the screen disappears, add a little softness, and use spill reduction if green or blue reflections remain.
Compare the original and result around hair, logos, and small props. Keep the background transparent for a PNG cutout, or choose a color or image for a finished composition.
Chroma keying builds transparency from color differences. This is useful for portraits filmed against a screen, a product photographed on a flat backdrop, or a graphic with a distinct background color. The tool supports green, blue, and custom colors; it does not need a particular shade of green.
The selected color matters. A sample from a shadow or bright hotspot can be less representative than the main screen color. If the subject contains the same hue, a broad tolerance may remove that detail too. Start conservatively and use the comparison preview while adjusting.
Tolerance expands the range of colors removed. Softness changes the transition at the edge, while spill reduction reduces excess green or blue near the keyed hue. Adjust one control at a time so you can see which problem it solves.
Inspect the cutout over both light and dark backgrounds. A detailed replacement scene can hide a leftover fringe that becomes obvious when the PNG is used elsewhere. If the source has strong shadows, heavy compression, or matching subject colors, improving the photo can help more than increasing every slider.

Yes. Choose a custom key color or sample it with the eyedropper. The background should be mostly uniform and distinct from the foreground.
Those pixels are close to the chosen key color. Lower tolerance, choose a more representative backdrop sample, and check whether your subject shares the background's hue.
Softness smooths the transition in transparency. Spill reduction changes excess green or blue near the keyed edge. One blends the outline; the other reduces a color cast.
Changing the format alone does not remove a background. Apply the key, choose a transparent background, and export PNG to keep the newly transparent pixels.
Yes. After removing the selected background color, choose a transparent background and PNG output. The checkerboard only previews transparent pixels and is not drawn into the downloaded image.
No. The editor reads and processes your selected photo in the browser. Hosting still receives ordinary requests for the website and its assets.
